There is nothing wrong with wanting to save money \u2013 and this is true for translation services too. It does not mean however that you need to ask your secretary to translate a 10-page chemical study, or you have to use Google Translate for making your website multilingual. We\u2019ll show you how to use your translation budget wisely. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s assume that you are a Chemical\nCompany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s assume that you have a long list of various chemical documents<\/a> from labels to MSDS<\/a>s, from registration documents to exposure scenarios, from SPCs<\/a> to product brochures, that you need to translate from English into all the official languages of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now you need to set up a feasible timeline for the entire project, and choose a translation partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much is it?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A major mistake a client can make in this\nsituation is to ask for translation word rates from several agencies, and put\nthem side by side. Comparing merely word rates will not give you the full\npicture<\/strong>. There are so many other factors that can affect the final sum you\nare about to pay: various discounts, file conversion fees, additional quality\nassurance charges, revision costs. It is misleading (but unfortunately still\ncommon practice) to take the total translatable wordcount multiplied by the translation\nword rate, and select the lowest bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since SDSs (Safety Data Sheets), exposure\nscenarios, product labels, SPCs (Summaries of Product Characteristics) and\nsimilar chemical documents tend to include repetitive parts, we always analyse\nthem and offer discount for the repetitions<\/strong>. Why can we do that? Because\nwe have the appropriate technical background and software. We don\u2019t like double\nwork; instead, we like to use our head. And we build long-term relationship\nwith our partners, so we help them see how they can save money \u2013 without\ncompromise on quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of looking for the lowest\ntranslation word rate, collect all the translatable documents and send them to\nthe selected translation partner candidates for an exact price and turnaround\ntime. You\u2019ll be surprised!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to repetitions, the actual translatable\nwordcount could significantly drop \u2013 and so will your expenses. What\u2019s more, for\nlarge projects we are always pleased to give an additional volume discount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine receiving the translation of almost 1 million words while paying only for 29%<\/strong> of the wordcount. (These are real numbers of a recent chemical project<\/a>!) Now how does this sound?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good, fast and cheap<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We all know the Good-Fast-Cheap triangle.\nYou might very well think that if the bill is impressively low (compared to the\nhigh total wordcount, of course) the project either takes forever to complete\nor the quality is poor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for quality<\/a> \u2013 well, that\u2019s not countable. Unlike the chemical companies<\/a> who have been choosing to work with us<\/a> in the last 15 years. They are numerous. Giant chemical companies, suppliers of plant protection products, biocides regulation consultancies, law firms specialized in regulatory affairs \u2013 they all have one thing in common. They require top quality in terms of chemical knowledge and language expertise<\/strong>. Nothing is more important than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
